Michigan State University vs. Ohio State University

Out of 182 applications, Annie MacBeth, who is a Spanish teacher at Flushing High School, was selected to have a chance to throw for the Eckrich $1 Million Challenge for Teachers. She was chosen to participate in the throw during the Michigan State University vs. Ohio State University game on October 8, 2022.

She was nominated by one of her colleagues who knows that she is a teacher who enjoys what she does and cares about her students (she was also nominated because of how big of a Spartan fan she is!). She noted that “even though these past few years have been some of the most challenging due to the pandemic, whether it was in-person instruction, virtual, or a hybrid combination, teachers stepped up to provide engaging instruction to all learners.” She hopes that with the funds she won during her throw, she can help her school district to increase the literature available to students in the classroom.
