University of Miami vs. Texas A&M

Monica Vera, who is a 6th-12th Grade English Teacher & College Guidance Counselor at Sha'arei Bina Torah Academy For Girls, was selected to have a chance to throw for the Eckrich $1 Million Throw for Teachers. She was chosen to participate in the throw during the University of Miami vs. Texas A&M game on September 9, 2023. She was nominated by a supportive parent of one of her students who wanted to show their appreciation for the great work she does for the school, her students, and the community. Monica noted “I like being challenged and love to learn. Teaching gives me the space to do both with the added bonus of helping students find their own sense of meaning and purpose.” Congratulations to Monica for securing funds to help her local community!
